OUR STORY
1996
PREPARING THE GROUND
Before a single seed went into the earth, a cooperative of farmers chose a barren stretch of land in the shadow of Hallasan and spent three years regenerating it back to life, feeding cattle organic feed and working their organic matter deep into the soil. The land was not ready, and the farmers were not in a hurry.
1999
SEEDS OF CHANGE
On the volcanic slopes of Jeju Island, barren earth became fertile ground for innovation as we planted the first organic tea seeds. What began as an experimental farm now thrives as a lush sanctuary, rooted in respect for nature and tradition.
2007
KOREA'S ORGANIC PIONEER
Eight years after its founding, Wild Orchard farm made history by becoming South Korea's first USDA organic-certified tea estate. This milestone affirmed their commitment to purity, transparency, and sustainable farming practices.
2018
CHARTING THE COURSE WEST
In September 2018, work began on how to carry a single origin, seed grown tea from one Korean farm into the American market. It took more than a year of groundwork, and almost nothing about it was borrowed from the way tea is usually sold.
2020
BRIDGING WORLDS
In 2020, we were established in New York to bring the teas from Jeju Island to the North American market and beyond. This bold move brought these award winning teas directly to tea lovers, blending heritage with modern convenience.
2021
A NAME FOR AN OLD PRACTICE
At the World Tea Conference, we introduced regenerative agriculture to the tea industry for the very first time, giving a name to what this farm had already been doing for twenty-two years. The idea reached the industry a year before the certification reached the farm.
2022
GLOBAL GOLD STANDARD
Wild Orchard set a new benchmark in sustainability by becoming the world’s first brand to offer Regenerative Organic Certified® teas. This elite certification underscores their holistic approach—from soil health to social responsibility.
2024
WHOLE FOODS DEBUT
Reaching a major retail milestone in 2024, we introduced our premium tea bag line at Whole Foods Market. Now, our regenerative teas are more accessible, delivering convenience without compromising on quality or ethics.
2025
THE WORLD'S BEST TABLES
Recognition arrived from those who taste for a living, with Wild Orchard poured at Noma's New York pop-up and at Atomix, awarded number one on North America's 50 Best Restaurants list. Twenty-nine international awards now stand behind our leaf.
2026
THE SECOND WAVE
Jeju Black Matcha, a powdered black tea created for the many people who find matcha too grassy, arrived at Target in May 2026, the brand's first mass retail placement, reaching 173 stores across 26 states.
TODAY
A GENERATIONAL PROMISE
One farm, one thousand acres, tended by a cooperative of 3,000 members and a flock of geese, where every leaf is harvested with care and washed four times before it is packed. The farm doesn't just highlight the absence of chemicals, but the presence of life in the soil.
