Why Our Organic Matcha Green Tea is Crafted for Lattes
At Wild Orchard, we made an intentional choice in how we grow and share our matcha green tea. Unlike traditionally shaded matcha—where synthetic plastic sheeting blocks the sun to produce a sweeter but lower-catechin leaf—our matcha is grown entirely in full sun. We chose this path because we believe in maximum purity, vitality, and health benefits.
Full sun exposure naturally increases the levels of catechins—the powerful antioxidants responsible for many of green tea’s health-promoting properties. This also means our organic matcha tea has a bold, vibrant flavor with a slightly higher astringency than most shaded ceremonial matcha.
While some customers have tried preparing it the traditional way (simply whisked with water) and found it too intense, we recommend enjoying our matcha as a latte. Whether with organic dairy or your favorite plant-based milk, the creaminess beautifully balances the brightness of the tea, creating a smooth, satisfying cup that brings out the best in both health and flavor.
For those seeking a ceremonial-style matcha experience, we are exploring natural shading methods(without plastics) that align with our mission of elevating health while honoring tradition. We look forward to offering this option in the future.
