How to Enjoy Oolong Tea: Brewing Tips and Wellness Benefits

Oolong tea holds a special place between green and black teas—complex, balanced, and rich in natural nuance. At Wild Orchard, our Regenerative Organic Certified™ oolong is grown with care on the mineral-rich slopes of Jeju Island, where volcanic soil, misty air, and clean farming practices come together to create a deeply satisfying cup.

Whether you’re new to oolong or simply looking to elevate your ritual, here’s how to enjoy it to its fullest.

What Is Oolong Tea?

Oolong tea is a partially oxidized tea, offering a flavor profile that bridges the freshness of green tea and the depth of black tea. Depending on how it’s processed, oolong can taste floral and buttery, or roasted and toasty. Wild Orchard’s oolong is crafted for balance—smooth, layered, and clean, with naturally occurring notes of honey, minerals, and stone fruit.

How to Brew Oolong Tea

Brewing oolong is simple, but a few small choices can bring out the best in your leaves.

1. Use fresh, filtered water
Clean water makes a clean cup. Avoid distilled or overly hard water for best results.

2. Measure your tea
Use about 1 teaspoon of loose-leaf oolong per 8 oz of water.

3. Steep at the right temperature
Ideal water temperature for oolong is around 190°F (88°C). If you don’t have a thermometer, let boiling water cool for 1–2 minutes before pouring.

4. Steep time: 2–3 minutes
Taste after 2 minutes. For lighter oolongs, less time is often better. You can re-steep the same leaves 2–3 times, each time revealing new layers of flavor.

5. Drink it mindfully
Oolong is best enjoyed slowly. Its complexity opens up as it cools slightly in the cup.
